Usage Instructions

For Rye Grain Jars:

1. Shake the spore or culture syringe to disperse clumps. Flame sterilize the needle and clean the injection port with an iso wipe. Inject 1-2 cc of the solution (not included) into the jar.
2. Store the jar in a clean area, preferably around 75°F. Monitor for colonization.
3. When 50% colonized, gently mix the grains to spread the mycelium. Return to a clean, dry location until fully colonized.

For Substrate:

1. In a tub, break apart the contents of colonized jars and push them to one side. On the other side, add an equal amount of CVG substrate, aiming for a 1-to-1 ratio with the spawn.
2. Mix the CVG substrate and grain spawn thoroughly with your hands. Level the surface and gently pat down to eliminate air gaps at the edges of the tub, reducing the risk of side pins.
3. Spread a thin, even layer of CVG substrate (about 1/4 inch thick) over the exposed grain. Level out the surface and carefully tap down the edges for a uniform and compact layer.
